It is widely adopting clear low iron high quality glass for side glass balustrade, monolithic tempered or tempered laminated glass make up 6+6 or 8+8mm flat or curved.
For the glass steps, needs more strength. It is usually 2 or 3 layers of tempered laminated glass by SGP ( Sentry Glas Plus) inter-layer, which is very strong inter-layer, about 3 to 5 times stronger than normal PVB. It stands hundreds of kg, definitely safety.
