Façade installation is nearing the roof parapet of 141 Willoughby Street, a 24-story commercial building in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger with SLCE as the executive architect and developed by Savanna Real Estate, the 400,000-square-foot structure will yield a mix of Class A offices and lower-level retail space, and is expected to achieve LEED certification. Gilbane Building Company and Savcon are the general contractors, Thornton Tomasetti is the structural engineer, and AKF Group LLC is the MEP engineer of the property, which rises from a trapezoidal plot bound by Willoughby Street to the south, Gold Street to the west, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the east.
At the time of our last update in November, the steel superstructure had just finished topping out and the glass and metal curtain wall had enclosed the first three stories. Now the assembly is closing in on the pinnacle of the tower, with only a few floors left to go.

Recent photographs show the look of the warm-colored panels and floor-to-ceiling windows, with the sunlight creating thin bands of shadows around the mullions and spandrels. Based on the pace of progress, workers should enclose the entire superstructure before summer.

141 Willoughby Street’s building massing follows the geometric outline of the parcel and further extends Downtown Brooklyn’s wall of towers further north along Flatbush Avenue Extension. From the north, the new building fronts an imposing lineup of skyscrapers with Brooklyn Point directly behind it, followed by the Brooklyn Tower at 9 DeKalb Avenue. 141 Willoughby’s prime position will make it a focal point when entering the neighborhood from the Manhattan Bridge.
The building’s setbacks will make way for outdoor space that will offer tenants views up and down the avenue with prime morning and late-afternoon sunlight exposure.

The curtain wall is gorgeous. Those warm-gold mullions with the reflective glass is just so nice. And the view from the corner is turning out to be very good as well. So far, I’m really satisfied with 141 Willoughby.

the birds, the bees the flowers and the trees, and the heavens above….its a thing called love.
and more empty commercial and offices space/ Affordable housing will be much better keeping the neighborhood alive.
