If you’ve driven in the area of Highway 16 where it connects with State St. in Star, you’ve probably seen the large building that popped up on the northwest corner.

The massive structure has a large barrel-sloped roof and a glass curtain wall along the front, visible from both State and 16.

The project is the future home of local cabinet manufacturer Greyloch. The company currently operates out of a 15,000-square-foot shop and showroom in Meridian. The new facility is more than six times as large, with a total of 96,000 square feet. You Asked: What is going up on State St. in Star?

The concrete tilt-up building has two floors, with a production area, rooftop patio, and 150-foot steel bowling trusses, according to a news release last year from HC Company, the project’s general contractor.

HC said crews worked to increase the height of the site by about 1.5 feet, bringing in 60,000 tons of fill dirt to the site.

Greyloch was founded in Meridian in 1991 by Dianne and Shaun Fickes. The firm manufactures custom cabinetry for both commercial and residential projects.

The new facility is slated for completion this November, according to HC.
