Cypress police blotter, October 3 to October 9, 2022 - Orange County Breeze

The items shown below are selected from the logs of the Cypress Police Department. The police blotter is not a comprehensive listing of police-related incidents in the city, and no inference of guilt is implied in showing any item in the Cypress police blotter.

Vandalism – 1:21 a.m. – 9300 block of Pecan – An unknown subject smashed the window of the victim’s white Ford Transit van. Police were unable to locate the subject on an area check. Assault – 8:39 p.m. – 6000 block of Cerritos Ave. – From a call for service of a possible assault at the location, a male subject was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after he shot the victim in the hand with a BB gun. The victim is a former employee at the business who was at the location to collect his personal tools. OCFA responded for treatment. However, the victim refused treatment and transported himself to the hospital. The subject who was arrested was booked at Orange County Jail.

Suspicious Subject – 2:04 a.m. – Bloomfield/Myra (Flood Control Channel) – A Police Services Officer observed a suspicious pedestrian walking in the area of Bloomfield and Myra. He contacted an officer, who responded and contacted the subject inside the flood control channel. A record check revealed the subject was a parolee at large and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer took the male subject into custody and he was booked at Orange County Jail. Burglary – 5:59 a.m.- 4000 block of Ball Rd. – At approximately 5:30 a.m., 4 male blacks wearing gloves and masks smashed the glass door and cut through the security gate. The loss was $40K in cigarettes. Arrest – 9:07 a.m. – 11500 block of Java – From a call for service, two male subjects were arrested for burglary and felony vandalism after they pushed their way into the victim’s residence and destroyed a kitchen counter top. Both suspects were absentee booked at OCJ. Parole Compliance – 5:57 p.m. – 5600 block of Lincoln Ave. – Police organized a parole compliance check and made contact with the subject inside of his motel room. During a search of the room an electronic tablet was located which contained images of nude children. Police arrested the subject for possession of child pornography and a parole violation. The subject was booked at OCJ. Traffic Collision – 11:41 p.m. – Bloomfield/Lincoln – A Police Services Officer located an overturned vehicle on Bloomfield just south of Lincoln, which appeared to have collided into parked vehicles. Police arrived on scene and handled the investigation. The driver of the vehicle was found to be unlicensed and to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The passenger was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to OCJ.

Vehicle Burglary – 3:55 a.m. – 5600 block of Pine Ct. – The victim was woken up to the sound of glass breaking and his dog barking. When he looked outside he observed an unknown suspect wearing a white shirt and white pants in the passenger door of his work truck, which was parked in his driveway. The suspect fled the scene in a U-Haul box truck with approximately $2,000 worth of miscellaneous tools. The U-Haul truck was last seen southbound on Graham Street. Assault/Battery – 4:17 p.m. – 6100 block of Lincoln Ave. – Transient entered a room occupied by the victim, a housekeeper, and physically assaulted her before fleeing the area on his bicycle.

Pedestrian Check – 12:39 a.m. – 4400 block of Lincoln Ave. – From a pedestrian check, police arrested a male subject for possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding traffic warrant. He was cited and released in the field. Traffic Collision – 8:24 p.m. – Valley View/Lincoln – An Officer observed a non-injury traffic collision at the location and contacted both parties. A record check of one of the drivers revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant. She was arrested for the warrant and cited and released in the field.

Pedestrian Check – 8:54 a.m. – Valley View/Katella – From a pedestrian check, a male subject was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. He then obtained a probation violation hold and the subject was later transported to OCJ for booking. Disturbance (Family) – 12:12 p.m. – 9200 block of Graham Cir. – From a call of a family disturbance, a subject was arrested for violation of a court order. The subject had been released from Orange County Jail earlier in the day after serving time for assaulting his mother. Upon release, the subject went directly to the house to inquire with her about his property. He was transported back to OCJ.

Catalytic Converter Theft – 8900 block of Electric – Between 2:04 a.m. and 2:10 a.m., unknown suspects entered the gated lot and cut the catalytic converters from two vehicles. Counseling – 11:30 a.m. – 5400 block of Katella Ave. – Police handled multiple counseling calls via telephone in regards to the signature gatherers at the location, both from Loss Prevention and also from the petitioners calling. All parties counseled were advised no action will be taken at this point until further investigation is conducted.

Burglary – 2:00 p.m. – 6100 block of Orange Ave. – At 3:14 a.m., the victim was standing outside of her residence when she observed her garage door open and two subjects (male and female), run out carrying property.  The subjects were last seen running eastbound through the alley.  Loss was spray cans, garage door remote, sunglasses, gift cards, and credit cards. Total loss valued at $360.  Robbery – 10:23 p.m. – 9200 block of Bloomfield – The victim attempted to sell two pairs of Air Jordan shoes valued at $500.  When the potential buyers arrived, they brandished a black handgun and stole the merchandise. The suspects fled in a gray Ford Taurus, southbound on Bloomfield.
