All students will receive this newsletter every Wednesday when classes are in session, and sometimes during the summer. UD, YWCA Dayton working together to make Brown Street safer

The Student Government Association and UD Public Safety are working with YWCA Dayton to bring the Gem City Safe Bars program to establishments around Brown Street. Observance of some religious traditions may require reasonable accommodation to classroom or workplace schedules, environment or in the way tasks or assignments are customarily completed. The University offers the following list of recommendations for requesting and granting religious accommodations. Those who need accommodations are asked to communicate their requests as early as possible. Women's rowing recruiting members

UD's varsity women's rowing team is recruiting new members. No experience is necessary; almost any athletic ability translates well to this sport. As student-athletes, team members receive academic support along with other benefits. An informational meeting will take place 3 p.m. Sept. 11, in the Crew Lounge next to the volleyball gym in the Frericks Center. Contact novice coach Trish Miles for more information. The Princeton Review ranked UD among the nation’s best colleges and universities in multiple categories. Provost Paul Benson announces July 2023 retirement

Following a distinguished 38-year academic career at UD, Paul H. Benson, provost and executive vice president of academic affairs and professor of philosophy, will retire from the University July 1, 2023. Read more on Porches. Arts Center lead donor, philanthropist and businessman Roger Glass '67 dies

The University community mourns the passing of Roger Glass ’67, local entrepreneur and philanthropist, who died Wednesday. Glass, president and CEO of Marion’s Piazza, is the lead donor on the Roger Glass Center for the Arts, UD’s first building dedicated to musical concerts, dance and theater performances, and art exhibits, which is under construction now and expected to open during the 2023-24 academic year. The Marian Library has released its list of exhibits for the fall. Students are invited to visit and take part in related programs and activities. Revised Hours in University Libraries Special Collections

Beginning Sept. 1, University Archives & Special Collections, U.S. Catholic Special Collection, and the Marian Library will be closed to walk-in visitors on Thursdays. Appointments with faculty and staff in these units may be scheduled at their discretion and must be made at least 48 hours in advance. View library building and service hours.
