When purchasing glass railings with short posts it’s important to know that one out of every 10,000 sheets of tempered glass can shatter due to a nickel sulfate inclusion acquired during fabrication.

When a Laser Glass Railing project is completed, an engineer inspects the project to ensure all safety regulations mandated by the BC Building Code are met. Furthermore, the building code—section 9.8.8.7—requires a second guard. If the second guard is not installed, the building inspector from your jurisdiction will not award occupancy, as the glass railing does not meet BC building code.

Laser Glass Railing is a Kelowna-based company that Adrian Sing and Jas Bhatti formed two and a half years ago after more than a decade spent together at a local manufacturer. The company’s employees have more than 40 years of glass railing experience, and they do everything by the book—all in the name of safety.

Sing serves as general manager and has a business administration background, while Bhatti, who is a certified welder and has AutoCAD credentials, is the company’s operations manager. Bhatti, for example, has created the Okanagan’s shortest posts, at 12 inches high and featuring their own extrusions.

Laser Glass Railing does interior and exterior, custom aluminum and glass railings throughout the Okanagan. What sets them apart is the fact they pre-order all of their glass, which means they avoid the massive delays that have been caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In other words, Laser Glass Railing customers can save about two weeks.

“We want to make sure that our builders get the occupancies in time and that there are no delays on their projects,” Sing says. “We want them to be successful.”

Approximately 90% of Laser Glass Railing’s clients are builders, but the business does welcome individual customers as well.

Laser Glass Railing’s main focus is developing engineered products to ensure customers’ safety. It strongly recommends customers not to remove the second guard after inspection is passed, as they will become fully liable if an accident occurs.
